To help International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.) Local Union No. 666, Richmond, Virginia, with a year-long celebration of its 100-year anniversary since being chartered by the I.B.E.W. on May 28, 1910, BMA Media Group produced an extensive, full-color program book of the local's inspiring 100-year history.
"It looks very good, I am so glad we had a professional handle the booklet; you all did an excellent job," Local 666 Financial Secretary Larry Jarvis said.
The local distributed the book to its over 2,000 members, retirees and friends at the end of 2010 to cap off the celebration, which featured several events during the year. Local 666 was able to commemorate its remarkable history with the issuing of this very special 100th Anniversary Commemorative Program book, which memorialized the occasion in a complete history of the local while serving as a salute to 666's success and perseverance.
To date, BMA Media has produced commemorative history materials such as program books and videos for several local unions, including IBEW locals 6 (San Francisco), 617 (San Mateo), 481 (Indianapolis), 369 (Louisville), 668 (LaFayette), 38 (Cleveland), 5 (Pittsburgh), 246 (Steubenville) and 212 (Cincinnati); Pipefitters Local 120 (Cleveland); IUPAT District Council 6 (Ohio); and Iron Workers locals 17 (Cleveland) and 55 (Toledo).
As with all of its history projects, through extensive research of archives from the local, the International's museum and Richmond-area historic societies and museums, BMA Media's Communications Manager and Historian Calvin Jefferson was able to concisely re-tell the story of Local 666, from the years leading up to its chartering, through good times and bad, war and prosperity, all the way until its 100th anniversary day. The book also featured many period photos from throughout the century to help tell the tale.
BMA Media Group sold advertising for the program to help defer the costs of printing, getting strong support from fellow locals and many friends. BMA further handled all the printing needs for the program.
